(Per)Severe Torrents

(Per)Severe Torrents is a watercolor painting in shades of blue that depicts a dinner gathering disrupted by a torrential storm. Plates, forks, and spoons are submerged in a flood while water rushes into a family’s home. Upon an intimate view, a viewer also discovers that the painting is meant to be heard: An audio device hidden beneath the surface of the work plays the sound of a poso used to fetch water from a well. The audio recording of the poso being pumped by hand plays on an endless loop.
