Play the Hand We Were Dealt (Uncover)

Play the Hand We Were Dealt is a painting series that engages with two sources of imagery: family albums and colonial Philippine archives from the turn of the 20th century. The silver surface of each painting serves as a surface to be etched like a lottery scratcher. Like the face of a scratcher, history needs to be defaced to reveal what is beneath.
