Sana Manalo

Sana Manalo is a woven fishing net made from used lottery scratchers, tracing my family’s histories of hopes and dreams ritualized through our engagement with the lottery and migration. It symbolizes those aspirations and rituals that have shaped our story of leaving the Philippines for the US. The net also embodies our family’s tradition of fishing in our coastal hometown in Rosario, Cavite, merging the pursuit of luck with our generational dependence on Manila Bay for our livelihoods.
Materials: Used lottery scratchers and aqua resin casts
Dimensions: 60 in x 45 in x 36 in
Date: 2026
