In the work, Veins That Carry Life, I traced the silhouette of a Pterocarpus indicus (narra) tree over handmade paper made from abaca fiber. As the national tree of the Philippines, the narra is a species threatened by illegal logging and is listed as ‘vulnerable’ in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species. The traced image of the narra tree appears weathered here, like a memory from long ago.
