We Gather, We Remember, We Make an Offering features six paper mache plates on a tabletop pebbled with torn lottery scratch-off tickets. Here, the dining table holds potential space for sitters to share a meal. Yet, fracture lines run across the rough-hewn tabletop, separating placemats from one another like rivers and oceans splitting land masses. Scattered across the terrain is an assortment of cast fruits and vegetables as offerings to ancestors. Ash-tinted, they appear burnt, perhaps from a ritual to bridge our world with other spiritual dimensions. Among those offerings are ashen cast branches, like remnants of a family tree that once lived.
